godzilla

Yes you read right I was that much of a Godzilla fan that I went not once but twice! I am slightly disappointed that I didn't see it in 3D or at the IMAX but that can't be helped now. In this post I'll write about what the film is about, what I thought of it and how the experience differed between the two viewings I went to. I will warn you now that there will be spoilers so if you don't mind that then read on! A Tale of Two Screens As I mentioned above, I got so excited about the film that I went to see it twice...in 2D. I actually meant to watch it in 3D at one viewing but forgot...whoops. However it wasn't all bad. I would say 3D would have amplified certain scenes ...

For those who don't know Harold Ramis, known for working on hit comedy films Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day and Caddyshack, passed away Monday aged 69. I'm personally a fan of Ramis' earlier work so I've decided to do a short post listing what I believe were his best films (actor or director) or at least my favourite films. I should probably say now that I won't be doing this for every actor/director that dies as this would start to look like an obituary (as they are dropping like flies now...) but I felt inspired after seeing the below tribute earlier today. via Twitter So without further ado in order of least to most favourite! Bedazzled A remake of the 1967 classic of the same name Ramis does an amazing job of breathing new life into it, both with his directing ...

I've decided to do a set of interconnecting blog posts over a number of weeks focused on mini-series past and present that I think people should watch if given the chance. They are highly under publicised and fly under the radar but I usually quite like mini-series when I find out about them. As it's a Thursday I have decided I will do a throwback Thursday post about a brilliant military focused mini-series from way back in 2008! Also as a bit of a challenge to myself and because they are mini-series I am only dedicating an hour to each post so forgive me if this first one is a little short. Generation Kill This mini-series is one I famously always forget the name of but cannot recommend enough to people. The story line is as follows: A Rolling Stone ...

Do not disturb

Like many of you and as a true television addict; I started watching the second instalment of Netflix's original series, House of Cards yesterday and finished it off today. For those of you who need a refresher on what House of Cards season 1 brought us here's a video from What's Trending that might jog your memories (fair warning to those who haven't ever watched the show this video contains spoilers) So as you can now see a lot happened last season during those 13 episodes. Now that it's back for a second season and 13 more episodes even more has happened in the epic tale of Frank (Kevin Spacey) and Claire Underwood. Spoiler Alert I will give those who don't want the second series ruined for them fair warning I will be going through some key points in the ...

amazon studios

This weekend as I'm sure many of you know (I highly doubt if anyone knew really), the latest round of Amazon Pilots were released. As with last year, the 10 pilots are available to stream for free if you're a Prime user or have signed up for a free trial. The viewers are also given the opportunity to write reviews and rate each pilot. Last year this yielded 5 new shows of the 14 that got shown. This included comedies Alpha House which I have not got around to watching yet (sorry) and tech start-up comedy Betas which I have watched and quite liked...may even do a blog about it soon. Unfortunately last year Zombieland got cut which I liked and thought had a real shot, but I can see why others might not have. This just goes to ...

First I would like to quickly address how badly the Broncos lost at the Super Bowl. I was supporting them that night as you could probably tell from my previous post even if I am a Chargers fan I fully expected them to win (as did everyone else) but boy was I wrong! If you missed it cue up to 44 seconds on this video to see a ridiculous kick return by the Seahawks! Back to the focus of this post; it's Throwback Thursday and the Thursday after the Super Bowl so I thought I would do a post on one of my favourite shows that ended a few years ago. I'm of course talking about Friday Night Lights. The video below is one released for by NBC it's Emmy Award nominations and just highlights some of the many moments ...
