Marvel

The final day of the convention I intended to experience it in it's fullness so arrived on time for when it was due to start, naively expecting to be able to stroll in but was instead met with a queue that went around the building making for a half an hour wait to get in under the blazing Spanish sun. However once in I was met with yet more amazing cosplayers who had truly come out en-masse for the final day. What was truly lovely to see were the families of cosplayers that were in attendance. Parenting done right. From How to Train Your Dragon families to an Iron Man family allowing for a super girl, there were some lovely displays of adult cosplayers getting their kids involved in their wonderfully creative passion of dressing as their favourite characters. Once ...

Ready Player One

After a night of drinking I woke up more than a little late and settled into a lazy morning of finishing the epic book that is Ready Player One which I'd set out to read and finish by the end of the trip. It was well worth it and I will likely review it when I get a chance. By the time I finished and made my way to the convention it was already a few hours in and I was pleasantly surprised to find unlike the previous two days there was a sizeable crowd outside and it was packed inside. Considering how large the venue was this slightly floored me. However not only was there a crowd of geeks and fanboys clamouring to get inside, there were also the thing that I came for most...cosplayers. From the moment ...

day 2

Much like day 1 the convention was not crowded when the day started however unlike day 1 crowds started to stream in once the work day came to an end as it was Friday and people finally had the time to spare from their jobs with the weekend having now well and truly begun. During the day I was able to notice little things in displays that I hadn't taken in during the first day including some that had only just been set up. The second day also brought with it the first real bunch of cosplayers with one in particular that would show up the following two days and impressed me immensely with his creativity. On day 2 of the convention I saw him in a Harley Quinn cross play with a bazooka in hand. If that wasn't enough ...

33 salon internacional del comic de barcelona

Part of a 4 day convention, 33 salon internacional del comic de Barcelona is my first venture into a non UK event for geeks, fans and nerds of all description. I've taken a well deserved break from work to attend and will be spending a week in the beautiful city of Barcelona, the majority of which will be in and around the area the convention is being held. Having come to Spain with my spanish more than a little rusty I can honestly say there was a language barrier. Luckily there were more than a few who spoke either perfect english or a broken form of it which just goes to show we English have a lot of catching up to do in terms of language in comparison to our Eurpoean brothers and sisters. I managed to find out that ...
