City of Colours

If you live in the midlands you're hopefully one of the thousands that descended on Digbeth's City of Colour and all it's glorious street art, street food, music, skateboarding, bmxing and culture. I was lucky enough to go on an instameet which was done in conjunction between City of Colours and Igers Birmingham gathering instagramers in the area together to capture the event in all its glory while experiencing it. For those who didn't get a chance to go on Saturday one bearded wonder documented a lot of the event in an amazing video that captured the crazy explosion of colour, people and creativity. If that's not enough for you I encourage you to check out the igersbirmingham and city of colours hashtags on instagram for some of the pictures of the day both by those who attended and by ...

Instameet Brum

Since my first instameet during Flatpack a few weeks ago I realised I would probably be going to these every chance I got. I had the bug. Instameet: gatherings of people coming together to connect, explore, and celebrate their creativity. They happen all over the world ranging in size but it's a great way to explore, meet people and learn new tricks. Instagram even have a page dedicated to it. When I saw that Visit Birmingham were doing one during International Dance Festival Birmingham I very quickly decided I need to go if I could. Unfortunately I only got to attend 3 days of them but I made sure to pack as much as possible into those days as possible. With that in mind I've limited my favourite bits from the 3 days. Boy & the Beast When a young orphaned boy living on the streets of Shibuya stumbles upon a fantastic world of beasts, he's taken in by a gruff warrior beast looking for an apprentice. This was the perfect start to my last day at Flatpack, an animated feature that was brought to The Electric by the festival with subtitles so it was a great animated treat for me. With the premise of a classic mentor story, the film has elements of love, friendship and parenthood with moments ...

Flatpack

My second day of Flatpack was one of exploration and finding new things in a city that is always full of hidden gems. It started with an early morning Instameet which was the first one I have ever been on and it was appropriately on world wide Instameet day, the thirteenth of it's kind. The Instameet started at The Electric Cinema taking us behind the scenes of the UK's oldest cinema and allowing us on stage, in the basement and even in the projector room! We took full advantage of the access and explored with our cameras (or in my case my trusty iPhone). Couldn't resist making a little video of The Electric #igbmeetflatpack #flatpack10 #birmingham #electriccinemabirmingham #organ #wwim13 A video posted by @trevorAKP (@tv_trev) on Apr 23, 2016 at 10:13am PDT From there things took ...
