Marvel Collector Corps

It's hard to believe that it's been a year since I started getting these but it has. I only set out to do it for a year so that I could get additional POP's other than the one I really wanted which was the Hulkbuster and for for the most part I've been impressed by the POP's that I've got out of it. However I started to run out of room quite quickly as I was also getting Loot Crate's so...something had to give and I officially cancelled my Collector Corps subscription. I would fully recommend the "mystery box" to any Marvel fans out there who love POP's too, however if you like a little mystery around what the boxes will include then you may be looking at the wrong one. They usually provide exclusive Marvel merchandise not available ...

Cosplay is awesome, don't let anyone tell you anything different. It's a fantastic outlet for creativity, allows people to be some of their favourite characters and even connects people with those who think similarly to them. When I watched the final episode of this seasons Agents of SHIELD there was one character which stood out and made me think "that would be cool to cosplay". He just so happened to also be going to a convention that I would be at in a few weeks from the episode airing. I'm of course talking about the menacing Hive which was revealed in all his glory in the final episode. I played with the idea for a few days but decided against it knowing that I wouldn't have any real time to gather materials and make the mask in time. Or so ...

Civil War

The latest Collector Corps celebrates the amazing film that is Captain America Civil War and came just before I was going to see it for a midnight showing which was an amazing surprise. As usual the design is slick with artwork featured on the outside and inside of the box. I particularly enjoyed the split of the teams inside the box with Cap and Iron Man's faces at the forefront. It was a great design feature that tied in with the rest of the box. The contents this time included a card insert that gave all the information about the contents. This is something that the boxes have sorely needed since they were first incarnated and I do hope they continue to do this as it really brings together the contents. Obviously I wore the t-shirt to the film and ...

Deadpool Collector corps

This month I got the joy of having both Collector Corps and my Loot Crate arrive at the same time. For both of them the theme was related to Deadpool for obvious reasons. The Box The collector corps team followed their usual design of a character on top with comic panels on the inside. It's definitely eye-catching and right for the brand but it's starting to get a little boring. What isn't getting boring is the marketing behind the box in teaser videos like the one below. It perfectly brings to life the box and POP that would be included inside. The contents Inside as usual the contents awaited with a slight twist which I wouldn't know about without looking at my friends box. The t-shirt comes in 4 different designs which shows that the Collector Corps team are thinking ...

Villains

The latest box from Marvel's Collectors Corps is the Villains crate. Arriving appropriately at Halloween it featured some of Marvels greatest villains. The front/top of the crate has one of the most iconic villains adoring it...Venom, the classic Spiderman villain who terrorised Spiderman for years and was no doubt a few childrens nightmare for the decades. The inside comic panel decoration is dedicated to Doc Oc, Venom, Loki and of course the Green Goblin continuing the theme of the box. As with every collectors corps box this one comes with a badge and pin. This box has a goblin pin and red skull badge. Both criminal masterminds and true villains. Inside the normal t-shirt and comic await. The t-shirt is one with illustrations of villains and their weapons, choosing to focus on a select lot: Ultron, Loki, Venom, ...

Collectors Corps

Recently in an effort to capitalise on the rise in popularity of geek mystery boxes like Loot Crate and Nerd Block, Marvel decided to launch their own version; Marvel Collector Corps. Unlike other boxes Marvel have been able to secure a deal with Funko and their ever popular figures which means that each box will have an exclusive figure in every box along with a load of other exclusive items. This all adds up to a value of $50 for every box and only costing the users $25. This cost however doesn't account for international shipping which means the cost benefit for international users is a bit lower. So with this in mind and the fact that I was already spending on Loot Crate left me a bit dubious when it was originally announced pre-age of ultron. But after seeing ...
