MCM London

So recently I've had the opportunity to go to both MCM London and MCM Birmingham. Both were eye-opening experiences considering I've been to more than a few conventions at this point. My trip to MCM London was the first time I had ever been to the London convention and I was immediately struck by the sheer size of it in comparison to Birmingham's. There was considerably more vendors, artists, stages and space for cosplayers. This was the first time my friend had ever been to a convention and he was immediately struck by the one thing most people notice with a convention...crowds. However as a result of the size of the convention hall and the spacing of the stands these crowds were not as bad as I've seen them to be in other conventions. The best thing about MCM ...

MCM Comic Con Birmingham

A few weeks ago I attended MCM Birmingham Comic Con which took place from 21st - 22nd March 2015. You can read my round up of events on Flicks & the City including the cosplay, the talks and Robots Live! As well as enjoying the atmosphere of the convention and purchasing one or two items I was also lucky enough to get to interview Tyler James Williams and Christian Serratos as well as Neil Jackson. The sound was not as great as I would have hoped it would be having had to record on a tablet so I've written up the highlights of the interview: http://flicksandthecity.com/birmingham-mcm-comic-con-2015-interview-highlights/ However I also got permission to load the videos in full up to my personal YouTube account. Have a watch let know what you think! Neil Jackson Interview Tyler James Williams ...

In a desperate rush to fill those spaces of time in my future where I don't yet know how busy I'll be I have managed to get myself into 4 different festival/conventions that I will be looking to write about. Some of them I have been to before while others are a wild roll of the dice. The kicker is that this is just in the next month or so with even more events to follow afterwards and my Hulkbuster still to restart. Most would say I should probably give up on one or two of these events and concentrate on my hulkbuster but I say that wouldn't be as fun. In my opinion all of these events are too good to pass up and even though it will be a struggle to fit them all in it will ...

Unfortunately comic artists aren't all lucky enough to make it big just by putting pencil to paper even if they have the talent or drive to succeed. Becoming household names for many is destined to be a hard fought journey and for some it might be just out of reach. My hope is that for the guys I'm about to write about their dreams become a reality. The Swansea Comics Collective The origin story of The Swansea Comics Collective is as follows: They were formed in September 2008 by two blokes in a comic shop. Fed up with talking about creating comics but not putting pencil to paper often enough, Pete & Mark decided to start a group where local artists and writers could meet to collectively pursue this goal. They meet regularly and during their meetings a character or ...

This post will be a list of the top 5 cosplays from MCM Birmingham. I meant to do this earlier in the week but work got in the way, then the plan was to do it Saturday...however I didn't plan for a hangover, malfunctioning/broken phone and to still be shivering from my dip in Birmingham's canal Friday night. That was fun. No seriously it was once I got over the whole near death experience side of it. So now that I sorted out a new phone and got over the hangover which actually wasn't that bad I can get on with this. If you've been following my page's Facebook feed you will have seen me share Solid Edge Media's cosplay video of the event who I was lucky enough to be next to when they were filming the ...
