The Punisher: Men Need to Talk
So the fact that The Punisher lands on Netflix the same weekend as Justice League being released at the cinema is no coincidence, but neither is it being the same weekend as International Men's day, where men are being encouraged to talk about what's troubling them. Or at least that's what I'd like to think regardless of whether or not Netflix has overtly used in their campaigns for the Punisher, men needing to talk is a clear message throughout the show that really only features half a dozen females with major speaking parts (which is me being generous).
This is not to say that the female voice isn't heard as the females featured are strong characters vital to the narrative and are very empowered women, but the message about men talking is one that is really pushed.
In the context of the show it's combat veterans who are encouraged to talk, with times where this extends to women too, but (without spoiling anything) the effect of not talking is seen more in the male characters of the show.
International Men's Day
November 19th is International Men's day where men are being encouraged to show their emotions. Personally I do that through my writing, my photography, what I create and by occasionally speaking to certain people about how I feel...I'm honestly not the best at it. However I do feel that it's important as though we don't like to admit weakness we do feel. We may hide it, deflect it, make a joke about it but we do feel.
So, the men in your life might not want to talk about their emotions right this second but my suggestion for if you want them to entertain the thought...have them watch the Punisher because men need to talk.
We need to be more like Frank Pete anybody that talks but the Punisher...
